The Present's Debt to the Past
Charles W. Anderson, Jr. was a lawyer, educator, and public figure that fought to change Kentucky and the South for African Americans. He is important to the study of African Americans in Kentucky because he fought to open the doors to education and other activities that had been denied to this part of the population for decades. As can be seen in the link, AAS 200 Class Blog, once this door was opened African Americans in Kentucky took the opportunity and ran with it. Also, as can be seen it the link that follows, Kentucky has a proud heritage of African American Achievement. However, this heritage did not happen by accident and even if we do not know it, all African Americans in Kentucky of Charles w. Anderson, Jr. a debt of gratitude for what he has allowed us to do and become.
